Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Cleanup Android app and this website. By downloading, installing or using Cleanup, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. The service

Cleanup is a storage-cleaner app for Android. It can scan your device for duplicate and similar media, screenshots, large files and related items, show measured storage use, and — only after you confirm — delete or compress files you select.

Cleanup is provided by the developer of Cleanup. Contact: husnainworks@gmail.com

2. Licence to use

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Cleanup on Android devices you own or control, for your own use, in line with these Terms and Google Play’s terms.

You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, redistribute or sublicense the app, except where applicable law says you may. You do not own the app; you are licensed to use it.

3. Your responsibilities

  • You are responsible for what you choose to delete or compress. Deletion can be permanent.
  • Back up anything you cannot afford to lose before you confirm a deletion. Cleanup does not keep a cloud copy of your media.
  • Review selections carefully. Duplicate detection is based on hashes and similarity; you should still look at the files before removing them.
  • Use the app only on a device and library you are allowed to manage.
  • Do not misuse the app, attempt to interfere with it, or use it for any unlawful purpose.

4. How cleanup works

Numbers shown in Cleanup come from measurements on your device (storage totals, files hashed, files verified deleted). The app does not invent progress or “space saved”.

On current Android versions, deletion uses the system confirmation dialog. If you cancel that dialog, nothing is removed. A file that fails to delete is not counted as freed space.

Compression may show an estimate before encoding. After encoding, Cleanup reports the measured output size. If encoding would make the file larger, that is treated as a failure, not a saving.

5. Subscriptions and trials

Some features may be offered as a paid subscription through Google Play. If subscriptions are available in your version of the app:

  • Plans may include weekly, monthly and annual options. The price, currency, trial length and renewal period shown in the app come from Google Play, not from numbers we invent.
  • Where a free trial is offered, it is typically a short trial (for example 3 days) followed by the recurring charge for the plan you selected, unless you cancel before the trial ends.
  • Payment is charged to your Google Play account. Cleanup never sees your full payment card details.
  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, in line with Google Play’s rules.
  • You can manage or cancel in Google Play (Subscriptions) or from the Restore / Manage links in the app. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not usually refund the current period except where Google Play or the law requires it.
  • Restore purchases reports only what Play returns. Cleanup does not grant premium access unless Play confirms an entitlement.

Google Play’s terms also apply to any purchase. If those terms conflict with these Terms on payment, Play’s terms control the purchase itself.

6. Privacy

Your photos, videos, filenames and file contents are processed on the device and are not uploaded to us. Network use is for Google Play Billing and, when configured, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics and Remote Config. Details are in our Privacy Policy, which is part of how you use the app.

7. Third-party services

Cleanup relies on Android, Google Play and Google Firebase. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for outages, account issues or changes on those platforms.

8. Intellectual property

The Cleanup name, logos, design and software are owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not give you any right to use our marks except as needed to use the app.

Your media remains yours. Granting the app permission to read or delete files is not a transfer of ownership of those files to us.

9. No warranty

Cleanup is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that scans will find every duplicate, that every deletion will succeed, that compression will always shrink a file, or that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Storage, battery and performance figures depend on your device and Android version. We do not guarantee a particular amount of space recovered.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for:

  • loss of files, photos, videos or other data, including loss caused by a deletion or compression you confirmed;
  • lost profits, lost storage, device damage, or any indirect or consequential loss;
  • issues caused by Android, Google Play, permissions you denied, or files the system will not delete.

If we are nevertheless liable, our total liability for a claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Cleanup in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 10 if you paid nothing, except where the law does not allow that limit (for example death, personal injury, or fraud).

Some places do not allow certain disclaimers. In those places, our responsibility is limited to the maximum the law allows.

11. Changes and availability

We may update Cleanup, these Terms, or features (including whether subscriptions are offered). Continued use after an update means you accept the new Terms, which will be posted on this page with a new date.

We may suspend or stop the app, or a feature of it, without liability, including if a platform policy or technical change requires it.

12. Termination

You may stop using Cleanup at any time by uninstalling it and, if subscribed, cancelling in Google Play.

We may end your licence if you break these Terms. On termination you must stop using the app. Sections that should survive (including 8–10) continue to apply.

13. This website

This website is for information about Cleanup. Content may change. It is not a storefront for payments; purchases, if any, are made through Google Play.
